Aliza Khurram
Postdoctoral Associate, IDSS
Aliza Khurram is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Trancik lab at the Institute of Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) at MIT. Her research is geared towards highlighting strategies for hydrogen fueling infrastructure development and understanding the costs and benefits of distributed vs. centralized storage of fuels. At IDSS, her work will focus on using energy systems modeling to assess the economic and environmental feasibility of hydrogen-fueled mobility services and identify target areas for innovation and investment.
Aliza received her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 2020, her S.M. in the same field from MIT in 2017, and her B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Bates College in 2015. As a graduate student, she worked at the intersection of electrochemical energy storage and CO2conversion. In 2019, she was awarded an MIT Energy Initiative Fellowship for her work on integrated CO2 capture-electrochemical conversion systems that can achieve simultaneous CO2 fixation and power delivery.
